INVITATIONS TO THE 18th EADV CONGRESS BERLIN 2009
Dear Friends and Colleagues,
The 18th Congress of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology (EADV) will be held in Berlin, from October 7-11, 2009. The Local Organising Committee is very proud to host the EADV for the first time in the capital of Germany. The Berlin 2009 EADV Congress will be organised by the German Society
of Dermatology in association with the Association of Dermatologists in private practice. Dermatology & Venereology has a long-lasting tradition in Germany. In particular, during the last decades of the 19th century Berlin became one of the major European Centers for Dermatologists all over the world. Despite being appreciated as an exceptional city, engraved by its history as well by its diverse ongoing and fascinating events, Berlin has always been a city of great scientific achievement and potential.
The meeting venue of the 18th EADV Congress will be the International Congress Center (ICC), known to many of you from the World Congress 1997. This congress venue has recently been awarded as the “Worlds leading Conference and Convention Center”.Committed to achieving the highest quality of training in such a stimulating environment the Berlin 2009 EADV Congress is dedicated to presentation and discussion of the most recent developments in clinical as well as experimental Dermatology and Venereology. The programme will feature plenary lectures, courses, symposia, workshops on hot topics for office- and hospital-based Dermatologists and Venereologists. Together with interactive self-assessment sessions, “What’s new” lectures, lunchtime sessions, and satellite symposia the Congress programme will provide ample opportunities to become updated on diagnostic and therapeutic developments in Dermatology and Venereology. The EADV will also continue and support its successful specialised dermatological sister-societies and provide them with the opportunity to hold satellite symposia.
We hope to see you in Berlin in October 2009 and assure you that we will make every effort to create a scientific and practice-oriented meeting at the highest level in a socially and culturally most stimulating environment.
Professor Thomas A. Luger
Congress President
Dear Friends, dear Colleagues,
It is a real pleasure to invite you to take part in the Congress of the EADV in Berlin in 2009. When many years ago the delegates of the national societies had to choose
the seat for the World Congress, Berlin obtained a wide majority also for the presentation of a perfect organisation of its Congress Centre. The experience demonstrated that the choice was right and the congresses which took place in Berlin always satisfied the participants’ expectations. Many things have changed since that far 1987, which deeply marked the world and the European history. In such a moment of changes and difficulties like the present one, the return to Berlin has also a general and very important symbolic meaning.
As to dermatology, the Congress of the EADV in Berlin is a due tribute not only to what the German dermatology has represented and still represents for the European and the world dermatology, but it is also an acknowledgment to the great activity that the German colleagues have carried out in our society in order to make it grow and improve. The scientific programme which has been designed in its general lines reflects the continuous attempt of the EADV of meeting the need of an updating in the dermatological sciences and it will be surely welcomed by the congressmen.
So welcome to Berlin in 2009.
Professor Alberto Giannetti
EADV President
